Sorry for the length of this post! It’s a long story. I have been a Subaru loyalist for my entire adult life. The only reason I considered moving away from the brand was that I have a long commute and wanted an EV, but didn’t care for Solterra’s 2023-2024 drawbacks. Last January, I test drove a Model Y. They were on sale, I have a lot of friends who have Teslas, and I have a long commute. I loved it instantly and planned to buy around August. Then, Elon did his whole full-MAGA nazi salute thing and I decided against it. I decided to hang onto my Crosstrek a little longer. I liked the Hyundai Kona EV, the RAV4 PHEV, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5, but I also loved my Crosstrek and my wife’s Forester. Basically, nothing impressed like the Model Y, so I just kept driving my Crosstrek. Eventually, I semi-settled on the Ioniq 5, but I never felt sure. option would have be to give lower rating, I would have. Rude support staff, arrogant responses, highly unhelpful. They suggest, quick option to contact is live chat.. but live chat is 48 hours response and they respond in 11 - 12 days and that too rudely. Cancelled my order. And thank god, I didn't buy the car.

Sometimes frustrating

I’ve been a bit surprised to see the low ratings here and although I can empathise with a lot of the comments, overall I can only call it as we found it. So, after numerous EV test drives across a number of manufacturers, Tesla’s cars stood out and felt like an EV that had been designed from the bottom up rather than a conventional car manufacturer playing catch up. I might add that we don’t feel particularly adjacent to the brand as such but it just did what we were looking for better than any other brand in our price range. Admittedly once we’d made our choice of a Tesla Y then the experience did dip somewhat but once we’d adjusted our mindset to Tesla’s sales/delivery approach via an app then we didn’t feel so offended. Yes, it’s lacks a bit of ‘customer service’ and contact can be frustrating but finally after 2 months to’ing and fro’ing we recently took delivery of our Tesla Y at Longbridge UK. The handover and p/ex was slick and unfussy and we are happy with our choice so far. Ask me again after a year or so of ownership but so far so good.
